MR TUCKER’S MEETING. Mr Tucker visited the patients and staff at the Pukeora Sanatorium, Waipukurau, on Monday afternoon, where he received a most cordial reception and an attentive hearing. The candidate was supported by Mr A. M. Samuel, M.P., Thames, who also delivered a brief address.

Dr. G. M. Scott, assistant Medical Superintendent, presided. Last night Mr Tucker addressed a very large audience at the Municipal Theatre, Waipawa, where he delivered an address on lines similar to that given at Waipukunau on Monday night. The Mayor, Mr G. H. Hunt, presided, and also on the platform were Messrs David Jones, M.P. (Mid-Canterbury) and Mr A. M. Samuel, both of whom gave short addresses. The candidate was accorded a very good hearing and was frequently applauded. At the conclusion the candidate, as well as the two Reform members of Parliament, were accorded a hearty vote of thanks, which was carried with acclamation, on the motion of Mr F. J. Witherow.

ADDRESSES BY MR A. E. JULL. AT WAIPAWA THIS EVENING. Mr A. E. Jull the United candidate for the Waipawa by-election is to address the electors in the Municipal Theatre, Waipawa, to-night at 8 o’clock and it is expected that a number of Waipukurau folk will make a point to be present. Mr Jull is to speak in the Municipal Theatre, Waipukurau, on Monday night, the 29th inst., this being his first appearance here. Mr Jull has also arranged to speak at the Public School, Hatuma, on Monday evening next at 6.45 o’clock, after which he will leave for Waipukurau.

SUCCESSFUL MEETING AT OTAWHAO. A very successful meeting of friends and supporters of the United candidate, Mr A. E. Jull, was held at Otawhao Block last evening, for the purpose of forming a committee to further the interests of Mr Jull in connection "with the by-election. The meeting was presided over by Mr J. Heald and was addressed by Major M. McDonnell and Mr F. A. Thompson. Both speakers stressed the necessity for combination, to secure Mr Jull’s success at the poll and their speeches were received with applause. At the conclusion of the formal meeting a strong local committee was formed and various arrangements made in the interests of the United candidate.
