THE WAIPAWA SEAT

Two Nominations Received

REFORM AND UNITED. CLEAR CUT ISSUE FOR ELECTORS Nominations of candidates for the Waipawa by-election closed with the Registrar of Electors (Mr W. M. FraSer) at mid-day to-day. Two nominations only were received, namely, Mr Albert Edward Jull, of Waipawa, the United Party’s official candidate, and Mr Willim Tucker, of Clive, who is to be the Reform Party’s official candidate. As predicted some weeks ago, the New Zealand Labour Party did not nominate a representative to contest the seat. With only the two nominations a clear cut issue is offered, to the electors, the contest being between the Reform and United supporters. Mr Jull was nominated by Messrs G. H. Hunt, Waipawa, bootmaker; Ernest E. Bott, Waipawa, stationer; D. Eddy, Tikokino, farmer; Ernest George Dowrick, Waipukurau, master plumber; Matthew Tansey, Waipukurau, farmer. Mr Tucker’s nominators are: Mrs Ada A. Winlove, Waipukurau; Mrs Mary G. Bibby, Waipawa; Mrs Sophia M. Johnston, Takapau; Mrs Maria Cushing, West Clive; Messrs Chas. Pattison, Waipawa, farmer; George Smales, Waipukurau, storeman; Norman M. Paulsen, Takapau, farmer; Michael Ryan, Elsthorpe, sheep farmer; John Henry Joll, Havelock North, farmer; Thos.
