Ward, who has been spending a few days in Waipukurau. Sir C. J. Playne, assistant controller of the Estates Administration Division, Public Trtist Office, Wellington, is at present on a visit to Waipukurau. At z a" meeting of the Waipukurau Fire Brigade, last night, Fireman J. P. Bridgeman was awarded a two years’ service bar, having completed in all, seven years’ service,with the Brigade. A vote of sympathy and condolence with the relatives of the late Sir George Hunter, K. 8., M.P., and the late Mr John Winlove, was passed last night at the fortnightly meeting of the Waipukurau Fire Brigade, the members standing in silence. A Wellington wire states that C. G. Porter, captain of the Wellington Rugby team, had a rib broken in the Auckland-Wellington match, and will be unable to make the southern tour. His place will be taken by Price, of the Eastbourne team.
