The final match for the Ross Shield will be played to-morow on Russell Pak, commencing at 1.30 p.m. The fixture which is between the Southern H.B. and Hastings school representatives, promises to be one of special interest. The holders of the cup were the Napier schoolboys but they were eliminated in the northern semi-final by the Hastings lads. NOTES AND COMMENTS _ (By “Veteran.”) At a meeting of the Waipawa United Football Club held on Monday evening Mr J. Ashby resigned his office as delegate to the Sub-union, and Mr N. G. Cooper was appointed to the vacancy. The resignation arose from a difference of opinion as to the Club’s attitude towards the recent temporary suspension of Waipawa players whohad failed to take part in a Sub-union, representative match. * Mr Ashby had supported the action of the Chairman of the Union and as a matter of fact the President of the Waipawa Club indicated at the recent meeting of the management committee of the Subunion that he was not sympathetic with, the action taken by the players concerned. Several interesting contests arc promised for to-morrow, viz., Waipukurau v. Te Aute College, on Russell Park, Waipukurau at 2.45 p.m. (a senior" championship fixture); the junior representative match, Central Hawke’s Bay v. Dannevirke, on Coronation Park, "Waipawa, at 3 p.m., and the Waipawa v. High School Old Boys encounter, on Lindsay Reserve. The attendance at Russell Park -will doubtless be a large one as both.-teams are capable of first-class football. If Waipukurau wins, and Old Boys defeat Waipawa, then the former and latter will be level in the race for Hunter Shield honours.
