“THE PRIVATE SECRETARY”
TO VISIT WAIPUKURAU. “The Private Secretary,” which will be presented here on Wednesday, Jan. sth next, at the Municipal Theatre, is not a one-man show, as each artist has been specially selected for his or her respective comedy part. The leadingcharacter of the Rev. Robert Spalding is played by Mr Bruce Allan, who has lately starred in this same role with the South African Theatre Trust, where “The Private Secretary” played a continuous season of fifteen months on tour. This is the longest run on record in South Africa of any one comedy. Miss Avis North, the brilliant youngcomedy artist, was also associated with the same production. Mr Frank Willoughby, who plays the part of Douglas Cattermole, is seen in his best work to date, being associated with the. George Grossmith production in London. The supporting artists include many old favourites such as Maurice Lynch, William Stanford, Vivian Grey, Stanley Wilson, Alfred Roberts, Reginald Ashman, Neville' Jeffries, Carmen Brunette, Joan Beverley, Naomi Herbert, while Miss Daisy Brassey is musical directress, and'Bcrt Tate advance representative.
