The residents and settlors of the Wiiilblddoh ’district interested in the’ continuance, of the license.'hitherto enjoyed by the Wimbledon Hotel, are. invited. by Mr A. C. Ward to attend a meeting to be hold to-day ‘(Wednesday), at 3 p.m. ' ' ‘ '. 1 1 ■ A monster picnic is being organised by the Porangahau folk ,to be held on the Porangahau Beach on Monday next, January 3rd, 1927, in aid of the school playground improvement fund. It is intended to have sports for old and young. The Waipukurau Band will play throughout the day. As there is 33 miles of excellent road from Waipukurau to the beach, the opportunity of having an enjoyable day’s outingwill, no doubt, be largely availed of, the Porangahau Beach being recognised as one of the best stretches of beach in Hawke’s Bay, and eminently suitable for a picnic, especially in the summer time. The object, too, for which the picnic is being organised should, of itself, be sufficient to ensure a large attendance. Hot water will be obtainable on the ground, and there, will also be a refreshment tent in charge of Mr H. F. Chandler, caterer.
