NOTES AND OOMSTENTS.

HERE AND THERE. Lady Cynthia, who paid a good double-figure dividend when, she ran second to Fka at Feilding, is a five-year-old marc by the English horse Cyntoi from Meroz. So far as the records show that she had not raced prior to this meeting, and as she ran welt forward, though unplaced, on the first day there may be better results in store, for her. Eka, by the way, who was previously spoken of as a gelding, is a three-year-old filly, her sire, ns before mentioned, being Acre ami her dam Park Tide. Eady Cavendish looked well at Eeilding, and the race she had in the Stakes should do her good in view of h»r engagements at Cllristmas. It was said she will most likely be taken to Awapuni instead of Auckland, but she daps not figure in the entry list. It is quite probable that Plain Sailing may be amongst the competitors at Ellerslie upon the occasion of the summer meeting of the Auckland Racing Club. Her effort at Feilding demonstrated that she has come back to her best, which last season was more than fair to medium. Monaghan, who won the concluding event at Feilding with the greatest of ease, has been sucessful in four races during the last few weeks. Prior to the Waverley meeting the son of Ei>ogne. ran one of the fastest seven furlongs ever recorded in that course, and iiis form suggests that he will be soon to advantage in the best of company later on. F. E. Jones has Battlement looking in rice order for engagements ahead. He will be a competitor at. the South Canterbury meeting .next week and his form there should provide a fair line- to his Auckland prospects. It is probable that Air G. D. Greenwool will have three representatives at the Auckland Racing Club’s summer .meeting. The two-year-olds, Agroin and Culalie, arc pretty certain to go north, and Haze may be the other member of the party. Count Cavour is still being confined to useful tasks, but he looks in the best of health, and he will be ready for more strenuous tasks next week. Count Cavour has received his full deserts in the Auckland Cup, but he should be equal to a good performance in that event with 9.5. Last season Deluge gave his trainer much trouble, and it. was found impossible to get him .right. For some time Deluge was treated to improve his digestion ,with the consequence that he is exhibiting good form on the track, an I W. Rayner is hopeful that Deluge Will again produce his best in short distance races. Laughing Prince, the. winner of the Auckland Welcome Stakes, is being kept going in view of his meeting with Cimabue in Auckland at holiday time. He has been reeling off some smart sprints. Merry Day still retains her old ability to put in a fine long, finishing run. but she notv takes so long in mustering up for it that the distance would apparently require to be more than the 10 furlongs of the Feilding Cup for it to bo fully effective. At anything over that she may still prove dangerous, even in good company. Silvermine, who won the Nursery at Feilding for her breeder, Mr A. Alexander, was then making her public debut, and it is said that: prior to the Taco she had not been stretched out over more than three furlongs. Rapier will line up with the Tesche•maker Handicap field at Timaru next week, and may give some guide as to his prospects in the Manawatau Cup at Christmas.
