TAKAPAU NOTES.

Garden Fete. A garden party, which was more than ordinarily successful, was held under the auspices of St. Alark’s Church Vestry at Oniawharo, the residence of Airs Sydney Johnston, on Wednesday afternoon. There was an attendance of over 200, and as good business • was done by the various stalls and side attractions the afternoon, besides being most enjoyable, was also financially successful and asum of £7O was realised. There was ideal weather for an out of door function and one would have to go far to get a more suitable setting for a garden party than the spacious and beautiful.grounds of Oruawharo. The organisers are to be congratulated on the excellence of the entire arrangements, and not a small share of credit is due to Airs Sydney Johnston and Miss Inglis, for the whole-hearted help and support, they accorded. Farewell Function. Arrangements are being made to suitably farewell Airs Barrow,, who is leaving the district after a residence of many years, a considerable number of which were spent in nursing. School Break-Up. . The break-up of the Takapau District School will take place on Thursday. December 16, when the prizes will be presented. An attractive programme of entertainment items will be contributed by the children, who are at present busily rehearsing under Aliss Watkins.
