CHRISTCHURCH FIRE.
<s> MERCHANT’S LOSS. CHRISTCHURCH, To-Day. A lire, which originated in some shavings, caused severe damage to the property of Staniland. Ltd., Salt, Spice and Coffee Alerchants, in AFoorhouse Avenue. Alachinery was damaged and salt, grain and other produce was destroyed by fire and water. The premises were gutted involving serious loss. The brigade experienced a difficult task in keeping from spreading to adjacent properties. The insurances on stock and machinery total £3,100 and the building is insured for £5OO, both policies being with the Southern Union Office. f W'
