FARMERS’ DIFFICULTIES.
RALLY IN WANGANUI WAN GAN UI, Monday. The difficulties which beset the paths of the farmers throughout the Dominion "were outlined to-day by Mr W. J. Polson, president or the New' Zealand Farmers-’ Union, in a striking address to the Wanganui Rotary Club. The address was preliminary to an important rally of North Island farmers, who ■will gather here on Thursday next to discuss pressing rural problems. Air Polson drew attention to the need for economy in public expenditure, a better land settlement policy, extension of overseas markets to America and the Orient, and the need for the stabilisation of land values and labour conditions. He suggested drastic penalties for breaches of labour awards, stating that the present price of primary products did not allow the farmers to make both ends meet.
