CHURCH CARNIVAL

ST. JOSEPH’S BAZAAR.

SUCCESS CONTINUED.

The opening day of the bazaar, in aid of St. Joseph’s Church, closed in the evening with a continuation of the attendance on a well-sustained basis, and the various stalls, as well as the numerous competitions, throughout both afternoon and evening, attracted a liberal measure of support. During the evening, entertainment was provided in the form of very pleasing and wellexecuted items, all heartily received, contributed by Misses Phyllis Polhill and Thelma McKay (Sailor’s Hornpipe), Phyllis Polhill and Betty Brittain (toe dance, “Folly”); Millie Stabler, Doris Stabler, Mollie Polhill, Nurses Black and Ryan (2) (Black and White Ballet); and Thelma McKay, in a ragtime dance. The orchestra for the occasion consisted of Mrs Keane (piano), Messrs Maloney (violin), J. Windle (violin), and B. Orr (sidedrum), the accompaniments and selections played adding greatly to the enjoyment M the evening. The several secretaries were to the fore in carrying out their respective duties, they being Messrs .M. Murphy (for the Town Queen), J. Boyce (Sports Queen), and J. H. Hindman (Country Queen). The Rev. Father O’Donnell was among those present at the bazaar and assisting the organisation, which comprised Mesdames Butler, Murphy and Jonny, and Miss Barnes, assisted by Mrs Waterworth, Misses Oakley, O’Donnell, Moriarty, Butler, Kerr and Pratt (for the Town Queen); Mesdames O’Connor, Mahoney and Harvey (Children’s Stall), assisted by Misses Skidmore and Butler (Sweets Stall), for the Sports Queen; Mesdames O’Donnell, Brittain and Miss Butler, assisted by Mesdames Polhill and Bird (Produce Stall), Mesdames Crowe (in charge), assisted by Mesdames McCarthy and MeLauchlan, Miss Johnston and others, were responsible for the Refreshment Stall. These stalls were on behalf of the Country Queen. The bazaar will be continued to-day, and concluded to-night.

Bargains are being offered in each of tho departments of stall-holding enterprise, and there should be a large attendance to-night, when many attractive articles will still be available for purchase. A programme of entertaining items is to be presented.
