BALKAN SITUATION. LEAGUE INTERVENTION. PARIS, October 26. M. Briand presided over a speciallyconvoked meeting of the Council of the League, at which Mr Chamberlain represented Britain, to investigate the Graeco-Bulgarian dispute. Replying to M. Briand, the Bulgarian Minister in Paris, said Bulgaria was invaded by Greece, while the Greek Minister in Paris said Greece would evacuate Bulgarian territory when the Bulgars withdrew from Greece. After hearing the Greek and Bulgarian representatives, the Council announced that it was not satisfied that

military operations had ceased, and rcquested both sides to acquaint it within 24 hours that their Governments had unconditionally ordered the troops to withdraw behind the national frontiers, and within 60 hours to give assurances that all troops would be so withdrawn, all hostilities ceased, and all troops warn>ri Flat on the resumption of firing theyTJj. be severely punished. ThWSuncil requested France, Britain and Italy to direct their officers within reach to immediately proceed to the scene of the conflict and report when the troops have withdrawn and hostilities ceased, and in any case at the expiration of the aforesaid time limit.
