COLEMAN SHIELD AND BELT
WAIPUKURAU AGAIN SUCCESSFUL The annual meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Rifle Association -was held at Roy’s Hill yesterday, when competitions for the Coleman Shield, the Coleman Belt and for money prizes were held between Cadets and Territorials. The weather conditions were very good, and the only unfavourable feature was a tricky cross-wind, which made shooting difficult at times. In spite of that, however, some good scores were registered. The Waipukurau team were again the winners of the Coleman Shield. This is the fourth year in succession that Waipukurau have secured this much-coveted Shield. In the shoot for the Coleman Belt, Lieut. J. Cook had hard luck in that he was only one off the winner’s score. Trocjper A. J. Smith also shot well, securing third prize in the Belt. G.
