HOSPITAL AFFAIRS.

MONTHLY MEETING OF BOARD. GENERAL ADMINISTR AT lON BUSINESS. The usual monthly meeting of the Hospital Board was held to-day when Air W, H. Rathbone presided. Also present were Messrs Paul Hunter, R. H. White, A. W. Cook, J. Holden, N. G. Hawthorne, J, Donald, R. A. Fraser, Miss M E. Carston forwarded a letter thanking the Board for the pensiou granted her. —Reeeitved. A letter from the Danncvirke Hospital Board, thanking the Board for the efficient administration of the Dannevirkc Hospital during the life of the old Board was received. A letter from the Borough. Council thanking thei Board for a donation of £5O to the expenses of the Dental Clinic wag received. The Board was advised that the annual conference of the Hospital Board Association would be held in Auckland toward the end of the month. The Board was asked to join the Association and forward a delegate to the conference. Mr Bathbone thought the Board should join the Association, Mr Hunter concurred. Only four New Zealand Hospital Boards did not belong to> the Association. It was decided that the Board join the Association. The Chairman (Mr Rathbone) and the secretary (Mr J. J. East) were appointed to represent the Board. The Medical Superintendent (Dr. J. Lewis Reed) reported the general work of the Hospital satisfactory. The wards were very full, sixty-eight pteTV ents being admitted during April and fifty-eight discharged. 'The Matron (Miss Drummond) reported sixty-two, patients in the Hospital, Nurse Chambers had developed a mild attack of scarlet fever. ,Nurses Goff and Simpson had passed their Hospital examination. The District.., Nurse Porangahau, reported attending 23 patients during the month. Fees collected total £7. Messrs J. Holden, R. H. White, and B. A. Eraser were appointed visiting committee for the month. Messrs Lee, Mackie, Harker and McKay were appointed the Board’s solicitors. The paysheet as follows was passed for payment: Hospital £723 5s lid; Social Welfare £l5 8s sd; Administration £9B 18s sd; Building £35; District Nurse £l6 16s Bd.
