SYMPATHY FOR RELATIVES OF PREMIER. FLAGS AT HALF M-AST. CHILDREN OBSERVE SILENCE. The news of the death of the;-Prime Minister, the Right Hon. W. F. Massey, was received with universal surprise and sorrow in Waipukurau. At the local school this morning all pup.ls were gathered together and a minute silence observed in sympathy. ■The' school then adjourned for the day. Flags at half mast to-day in various parts of the town paid their'silent tri bate to a great statesman. In regard to the opening of schools the following advice was given the “Press” by the Education Department to-day: “ Schools arc> to open as usual on Tuesday and Wednesday and close; all day Thursday, the date of the late Promo Minister’s funeral.”
