The. deceased was driving, and it appears that while travelling over a stretch of asphalted road opposite the home of Mr AV. Two sons of Mr AAlJliams, who were about 20 yards ahead, and saw the accident, rushed back to the overturned car, which was lying on top 'Of the deceased. They obtained the services of Dr. Jarivs, who lives close by, but although the. doctor was quickly on the scene and did all that was w.tbi?i his power, his aid was found to be of no avail. The unfortunate man’s body was removed by Messrs AVilliams Bros, to the morgue: at AVaipawa/

Mjr John McCarten was able to return to his home at Otane, suffering only from abrasions to his face. Miss Lindsay was taken to Rayston Hospital, Hastings, and was reported last evening to be suffering from a dislocated collarbone and abrasions of the face. She will be examined this morning, but her condition is not considered serious. The hood and the wind-screen of the: car were badly damaged, but the car was able to move away under Pts own power.
