BULL IRVINE KNOCKED OUT. DURING ROVERS-TAKAPAU GAME, A slight sensation marked the opening of the Rovers-Takapau sen.or football contest on Saturday, when All Black Bill Irvine was severely kicked and had to leave the field within three minutes of the commenceincnt. The accident happened about midfield when a Takapau player was .n the act of kicking the ball. Irvine rushed in close and as the Red and Black player .kicked the boot missed the leather and caught the well known Rovers forward in the groin, Irvine left the field and was taken to h.s home where medical aid was requisitioned. Dr. G. Raymond attending the patient. The.well known All Biack vias about again to-day and it is expected that he will be fit again for next Saturday. Several people have remarked on the extraordinary turn of fate which should allow Irvine to tour through England, Ireland, Wales, France, America and Australia unhurt and then strike him low in his first game in ins home town
