TEACHER’S DEPARTURE.
POPULARITY’ OF MR. ROMANS.
Mr. H. C. Romans, first assistant of the YVaipukurau School, who has received an appointment as headmaster tit the Clinton School,Otago,w;i H farewclled yesterday afternoon, and left YVaipukurau for the south this morning.
The popularity of the departing teacher was evidenced by a farewei! gathering at the school. He was the recipient of a travelling rug from the teaching staff, an umbrella from Standard VI. (boys and girls), and a letter of appreciation from the School Committee. Mr. F. B. Curd made the presentation from the staff, referred to Mr. Roman’s zoal, enthusiasm and ability in his work and wished him every success in his future career.
The scholars of Standard VI. and several of the teachers farewclled -Mr. Romans at the railway station.
