MEETING OF PARISHIONERS. A SATISFACTORY’ YEAH. The annual meeting of parishioners of St. Mary’s Church was held on Wednesday night. The Vicar, the Rex. A. W. Stace, presided, and there was a failattendance. The balance-sheet presented showed receipts for the year to amount to £7-15 7s JOd and expenditure £7-11 17s Hid. General offertories totalled £146 7s 3d, special offortories £2l 17s, subscriptions to stipend fund £ll5 8s 6d, special effort (flower show, etc.) £l7l 8s Gd, Ladies’ Guild £39. The liabilities were, shown at £.311 12s 5d and the available assets £127 19s 3d, plus £75 omitted. The balance-sheet was adopted. The balance-sheet in connection wijh the Choir showed receipts at £-10 Ills 7d and expenditure £3l 8s lid, the main amount being absorbed in providing furnishings.. In a general review of the past year’s operations, the Rev. Mr Stace acknowledged the excellent services ren dered by the Choir under the leadership of Mrs. Basham. The membership was over thirty and keen interest was being taken and good work done. The cooperation of all the church organisations had been most helpful. The Sunday School had developed considerably and new furniture was required to accommodate all the scholars. The children were carrying on a magnificent work in sending gifts to the Sanatorium patients. 'Reference was also made to the efforts of the Sanctuary Guild, St. Mary’s Guild and the Mothers’ Union, in addition to the annual gathering in aid of St. Mary’s Rescue Home. Mr. Stace ackowledged the help received from Messrs. C. Saunders and YV. G. Bryce as lay preachers. The offertories had shown an increase and this was a satisfactory feature of the balancesheet.

Mr. Stace suggested as a matter for serious consideration that a scheme for tv now church be initiated or that a decided renovation of the existing building- be undertaken. He urged that one or other of the proposals be an objective for the ensuing year. Mr. J. 11. Kibblewhite was re-ap-pointed vicar’s warden. Mr. YV Goodwin declined nomination as people’s warden, and Mr. W. Taylor was elected to the position. The following were elected to the vestry:—Messrs. W. Goodwinfi J. C. Nicholls, F Basham, E. H. Leigh, YV, C. Cartwright, C. Mitchell, D. B. Kent C. Wilson and JWinlove. Mr. J. 11. Kibblewhite was appointed to represent the parish on the Diocesan Synod for the ensuing three years. On the motion of Mr. Kibblewhite a hearty vote of thanks was passed to all church workers for their services during the year and particularly to Mr. Goodwin (retiring people’s warden), Mrs. Basham, members of the Guilds, the Sunday School teachers, and the Vicar and Mrs. Stace.
