CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR OUR BOYS.

Yesterday afternoon there was a larger crowd than at any of the previous functions, with the result that a wonderful collection of gifts for the troops were packed to-day. A number of residents unable to attend sent subscriptions, and in addition to these gifts Mrs Horne has a considerable sum of money, over £l2 we understand. If every township is as enthusiastic as Woodville, the boys will indeed have a good Christmas. During the afternoon songs were contributed by Mrs Husband, Misses Stevenson, Thompson, Bailey and Hutchins, Misses Husband and Grant a piano duet, and Miss Oxenham a piano solo. A fortune-teller was kept busy, and, as usual, a nice afternoon tea was provided. Mrs Horne read a letter and telegram from Mrs Luke about the second hospital ship, and a meeting is to be held at once.
