PAHIATUA.
(From Our Special Reporter.) The contractors for the mission room for the English Church are expected to be finished in the course of a fortnight or three weeks. It is expected that when the place is completed the Bishop of Wellington will give the opening adrdess, and hold a confirmation service. The shop lately occupied by Mr T. Hughes, painter &c., is going to be enlarged. The place is at present standing back from the footpath something like 7 or Bft, and the owner intends, instead of shifting it, to have a new front put on so as to bring it up with the footpath. Besides those alterations, a verandah is to erected. When the alterations are completed the shop is to be taken by Messrs Moller and Jensen, of the Ready Money Stove. The shop, when finished, will improve the appearance of the street very much.
There is some talk of trying to form a R( olabite tent here, but as yet. no arrangement has been come to. Mr Rush, of Waipukuran, who is now on a flying tour through the district will be asked to address a meeting on the 9th instant at the Mf th Mist Church. Mr I. Rush will deliver a lecture at the Town Hall on the Bth hist on “ Heads and Faces.” As this gentleman is wellknown for his marvellous success in this line all through the district, he should have a good attendance. He intends giving a similar lecture at Woodville about the 10th inst.
Mr Joseph Bull is having some additions made to his premises. The nominations for the vacant seat on the Town Board close on Tuesday 2nd inst at the Board’s office. After the train is opened to Eketahuna, mails by the coach from there will be delivered at four in the afternoon so the Post Office will not be open between the hours of 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.
