WELLINGTON LAND BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Land Board was held on Thursday, and was attended by Messrs J. W. A. Marchant (Chief Commissioner), W. W. McCardell, W. A. Fitzherbert, D, H. Macarthur, and H. Bunny. A schedule of transfers ap. proved by the Chief Commissioner, was read gnd agreed tq, Permission was given to Mr W. Leach to complete the [) arc base of land in the Waihoki-Makoura block. Mr F. Hill applied to be allowed to select section 80, block 18, Mangahao, a’though he is already a selector of a special settlement section. Agreed to. Permission was granted to Mr R, \\ r . J. Caver to convert his special'settlement section into perpetual leasehold. Messrs Bell, Gully, and Izard wrote applying t > be allowed to register a mortgage against pastoral run licenses Nos. 3 and 11. Agreed to. The Commissioner submitted a scheme of sections in the Wairoa(Jm.ilhni district, with proposals for disposing of ‘ thq 'same, comprising 700(1 acres. Pharazyn tor land in the Mahara block, The Commissioner recommended (hat the application should not be granted, and this recommendation was adopted. Mr J. Gregory applied to be allowed to lease reserves near section 8, block IC, Manga-
hao. The Board decided that the land be offered at £1 per acre under the new Act. Proposals by the Wanganui Harbour Board for disposing of a portion of their allotment were considered, but it was decided to obtain more definite information as to prices, &c. Mr A. R. Bunny asked that Mr W. Hull’s section, No 20, block 1., Makuri, should be vested in the Official Assignee, under the Bankruptcy Act. The Board decided to inform Mr Bunny that they had no power to interfere in the matter. It was also resolved that Mr Hull’s appdeation should extend to 14 years. Ttie Commissioner stated Unit Government had proposed to the selectors to offer the Pemberton township as a village settlement on cash, deferred payment, or perpetual lease conditions, weighted with the value of their present improvements. Messrs Brown, Skerrett, anil Dean wrote stating tnat they had been instructed by Mr W. L. Dean to appeal to the Supreme Court against the Board’s decision, that a title coul I not be given him for section 42, Hnnterville Village Settlement. It was resolved to agree to the case being referred to the Supreme Court, and to ask Government to appoint a solicitor to act for the Board I'ho Deputy Official Assignee at Wanganui asked to he allowed to complete the payments on sections 138, 18D, and 276, Hunlerville, or to enter a caveat agains •my transfer of the land, the selector having bten declared a bankrupt. The Coin missioner reported that the necessary action hul alretdy been taken. The Board decide t to accept the abandonment of section 6, block 14, Tararua. A scheme of sections in tne Poliangina district, 3000 acres altogether, whicii it is proposed to offer for sale, was submitted by the Commissioner and approved. Particulars of a proposed transfer of lands to the Greytown borough were laid before tlie Board by the Commissioner and approved. The Commissioner informed the Board mat the subdivision ot section 2, Te Rewa block, had been completed, and that tiie sections we now ready for sale by auction, weighte i with the cost of improvements. It was resolved to approve of the sale, thirty days’ notice to be given. The result oi late sale was reported by the Commissioner, and it was resolved to offer the unsold sections in Levin Township aftei 30 days’ notice had been given. Owing to the absence of plans proposals of the Paliiatua Road Board for the axpenditure of accrued thirds could not be considered. —P ost.
