FRANCE.
Paris, October 9. The loan of the City of Paris has been taken up. The subscriptions amounted to 'more than thirteen times the sum required. Several conflicts have taken place between French citizens and the German garrison at Dijon. There is intense excitement in consequence. Thiers receives complaints daily from the occupied provinces, declaring that the presence of the German troops is insupportable. The German generals refused to evacuate the department of the Oyse, until officially informed that the third instalment of the indemnity was paid. They subsequently received orders and evacuated. Drorabowski, the leader of a mob who attacked the German residents, Lyons, was arrested and sentenced to two months' imprisonment. There has been a deputation to Thiers from Dijon, complaining of the conduct of the Prussians in their occupation of that city. The Prussians were charged by the deputation with wantonly imprisoning 193 citizens who forgot to deliver up arms. The municipality of Paris has voted two million francs to repair the monuments and public buildings. The supporters of the JRlnqpn-e are becoming bolder in their intrigues, and are agitating openly for its restoration. The Republican journals demand of Thiers prompt action for the suppression of Bonapartist conspiracies. The Court of Revision^© which Rorset appealed have adjudged him guilty, with the penalty of death. The sentence of Rocheford has been commuted to banishment. The disarmament of the National Guard is proceeding rapidly. Diplomatic arrangements between France and Germany have been completed. Continued agitation in the Algerian possessions causes uneasiness, lest the
troubles cause expense, and possibly the abandonment of the colony.
