[PER GBEVILIiE'S TEL. CO., JREUIER'S AGENTS.] Greymouth, Saturday. On Thursday the steamers Murray, Kennedy, and Charles Edward all struck the bar at Westport, while attempting to go out. In backing off, the Charles Edward and Murray collided. The Murray was compelled to return to the Grey mouth wharf a little damaged. The others sailed for their respective ports. Christciiurch, Saturday. An elderly woman, named Grimsher, has hanged herself while in a fit of despondency. The inquest on the body resulted in a verdict of suicide while in a state of temporary insanity. A public meeting is called, to be held in a few days, in favor of Mr Macandrew's Middle Island resolutions. Pout Chalmers, Saturday. Arrived — Memento, barque, from Newcastle ; Tararua, from the Bluff. The ship Otago, from London, is at the Heads. Nelson, Saturday. Arrived — Annie Braginton, barque, from London, IS3 days out. Auckland, Sept 5. Mr Williamson will proceed South by the St Kilda. The ship Joshua Bates, with 280 Chinamen for Dunedin, put into Auckland. The vessel is in a leaky state, and the Chinamen are suffering badly from scurvy. The passengers have been placed on the island of Motuihi for a few days. They will then proceed to their destination. Two of the Chinamen died in harbor, and three the day before the ship arrived. The Caledonian has declared a dividend of U, and the Nonpareil one of Bs. The schooner Rifleman, for the Chatham Islands, was wrecked at Blind Bay, Great Barrier. All hands were saved.
