THE INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION.
The International Exhibition was opened on May 1, on behalf of the Queen, by his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, accompanied by her H«»yal Highness the Princess Helena. The weather was fine. The royal party was received by Her Majesty's Commissioners for the Exhibition of 1851, and conducted in procession through the corridors, in which various works of art are displayed. The procession consisted of state-trumpeters, the contractor for the building, the Fine Arts' staff and committee for the exhibition, the Industrial Staff, the Foreign Acting Commissioners, the council of the Royal Agricultural Society, the council of the Society of Arts, official reporters, the chairmen of the Chambers of Commerce, the mayors of the United King dom, the city companies, the Lord Mayor of London, the High Sheriffs, the General Purposes Committee, the Prince of Wales, and several members of the court. After making a tour of the grouuds and corridors, a proceeding involving a march of something like a mile and a-half'or two miles, the official opening of this gigantic national institution was announced to the public by a flourish of trumpets and a salute from a battery of the Koyal Artillery stationed in. the park. In the afternoon there was an exhibition of musical art in the Royal Albert Hal), which was brilliantly and fashionably attended.
