o Independent Office, Saturday evening. Laßt week's trade leaves very lifctlo room for comment. Prices are unaltered, and uo sales of English imported goods to any extent hafe como under notice. In flour some little activity has been manifested, Canterbury flour realising £14 to £14 10s per ton for trade parcels. Oats are quiet ; sales afc 2a lOd to 3*-. Butter is also in improved demand for export, nnd good samples are quoted at 6d per lbbuyers. At auction Mr James Smith realized the following prices :— Jeffery's stout, 9s 3d per doz, d.p. ; Mauritius sugar, d.p., £35 per ton ; grapes, iv good condition, 12a to 12s 6d per box ; colonial marmalade, 7s por doz ; jams, 6s 3d per doz ; rice, £21 per ton ; English saddlery — for gents' saddles, 44s 6d to 72s Gd each 5 bridles, girths, kc, at fair prices. Messrs Vennell, Mills, & Co held a salo of ironmongery, which realized fair pricos. Wanganui.— The " Chronicle" of the 13fch reports -. — Afc Mr Finuimoro's sale of horsos, &c, yesterday, there was a largo attendance, though the weather was very unfavorable. Really good horses brought from £15 to £34 each ; unbroken colts £15 ; hacks £5 5s to £10 10s each j wagon, £20 ; traps, £18 to £25. Tho lease of fcho premises waa purchased by Mr Brown lor £45. Cows at from dS4 10s fco £5 ; saddles from £1 10 a to £1 15s, and a few sundries at fair prices.
Thames Share Mabket.— Tho " Cross" of the 9th reports Mr Saunders' sales as follows : — " Caledonians, sellers, £117 10s ; Thames, sellers, £24 Kelly sold at £2 12s 6d— buyers at that ; Central Italy, 30s— sellers, 30s ; Una, 20s ; Nonpariel, £4 8s 6d and £4 10s ; Prince Imperial, £3 17s 6d, £3 18s 6d, and £4; Tookey, £13; All Nations, sellers, £5; Alburnia, sellers, £2 7s 6d ; Golden Crown, buyers, £300 ; Long Drive, sellevs, £14 ex. div. ; Tokatea, buyers, 15s ; Whau, buyers, 28s to 30s ; Otago, sellers, 37s 6d ; Poverty, buyers, few offering."
