Melbourne, April 8. 11.M.5. Blanche has sailed for Sydney. The Russian corvette is still here. The Claud Hamilton is trading to Newcastle. Parliament is expected to meet on Tuesday the sth inst. "Wright, the Secretary for Railways, ; has been appointed Sheriff of Melbourne. It is expected that Captain Macmahon will be appointed Speaker of the new Assembly. Duffy opposes him, also B. G, Davies. The steamer Barwon, from Adelaide to Sydney, laden with flour and wheat, was wrecked at Cape Bridgewater last Monday. The passengers and crew were saved. The vessel was afterwards I beached. The hull has been sold by auction for jEOO, and the cargo for £35. It was a thick fog at the time she was lost. The census was taken on Sunday night. William Maclin, brewer, pleaded guilty to forgery and uttering, and has been sentenced to two years' imprisonment. It is reported that an ironclad, supposed to bo the Cerberus, is oil Port Macdonald. The holidays were very generally kept. The weather is changeable. Breadstuffs are decidedly easier, but with only a moderate trade. Demand for flour at £14 to £16. Adelaide wheat, Os Gd to Cs 9d. Victorian, Os 3d The Water Lilly's ten thousand bushels of oats were sold in lines at 3s 7d : there is a fair demand now at 3s 5d to 3s 7d to 3s Bd. Two thousand cases of Devoe's kerosene were sold, to arrive, at quotations of 2s 4d to 2s 4£d. Sydney, April 7th. Lloyd, a squatter, recaptured the bushranger, who succeeded in escaping on a previous occasion. A petitiou signed by ten thousand persons, has been pre.-ented to the Governor praying for a dissolution of Parliament. The Governor replied that he would refer it to his constitutional advisers, j Bertram!, who is in gaol for Kinder's murder, is insane. At the wool sales tho competition was brisk. The Hero arrived on the 4th, after a smart passage. A deck house found off Howe's Island has been identified as belonging to the Douglass, wrecked on the Elizabeth reef. The Byron sighted a large etcamer, supposed to be the Queen of the Thames, sailing fast, on the Ist March, in lat. 35 ° , long. 97 ° 39. i'he markets are very quiet ; breadstuffs are weaker. Adelaide, April 7. Quotations for flour — .612 for town, and £11 for country brands. Wheat is firm, and offers of 5s 7d are refused. Tidemann committed to trial for five different charges of larceny,
