Government Notices. TO CONTRACTORS. THE Telegraph Commissioner is prepared to receive Tenders for the supply and dolirory ; of four hundred (400) TELEGRAPH POLES, more or less. The poles to be sawn from the heart of totara. The poles to be of the following dimensions :— Twenty -five (25) and twenty (20) feet long (in proportions hereafter to be determined), to be eight (8) inches square at the butt, and six (6) inches square at the top. The poles to be sound, straight, and free from shakes, knots, and sap. N.B. — No pole will be accepted which contains the least sap or speckled timber. The poles to be delivered along a line of tele* graph to be hereafter indicated between Invercar* gill and Riverton at points not leaa than four chains apart. Tenderers are to speoify the price per pole as per sizes given, and the time for completion of contract. Each tender to be accoinpaniod by a deposit of twenty-five pounds (£25) as a guarantee of good faith, which sum will be forfeited by any tenderer should he refuse to take up his tender in the event of its being accepted, Ench tender must include the names of two sureties for approvul, who aro willing to become bond for the due performance of the contract, in tho event of the tender being accepted, and must be accompanied by a notification to tlut effect, signed by the two proposed sureties. Tenders, endorsed "Tenders for tho supply of four hundred (400) Poles," and addressed "Tha General Manager, Telegraph Department, Wellington," must, be sent in not later than tho 26th I September next.
