Nelson, April 6. Arrived — Early, Taranaki, s.s., from Taranaki. • ■■■♦ The s.s. Phccbo, Edward Wheelor, commander, left Gh-afton Wharf, Sydney, at 5 p.m. on the 26th March, cleared the Heads at 6.15 p.m. light wind from the N.E., at midnight tho wind hauled into the S.W. and then to the S.E. Blowing strong for 48 hours with a heavy cross sea on. Sunday the wind veered into the N.E., and freshened to a breeze, which continued till she mp.de Mount Cook at 5.30 a.m. on the 31st when the wind fell light hauling to the eastward, and anchored off Hokitika at 5 p.m. with thick rainy weather. Transhipped passengers and cargo and left at 2.30 p.m. on the Ist April, and arrived at Greymouth at 4.15 p.m. ; steamed out at once, transhipped passengers and cargo, and loft at 5.30 p.m., arriving at Nelson at 3 p.m. on the 2nd ; left again on the 4-th and arrived in this port at 5 p.m. tho came evening. The s.B. Rakaia, S. H. Wright, commander, arrived hero yesterday at 1.30 p.m. She left Sydney Heads at 4.30 p.m. on April Ist, and experienced lino weather up to tho sth, when it blew heavy from the westward with much sea. Length of passage 4< days 19 hours. The Star of tho South Captain Bendall, arrived in port at 8 o'clock last night from Napier, which port she left on Sunday at 4 a.m. Ean into Castle Point on Sunday evening owing to tho eeverity of the weather, and remained there at anchor till Monday morning. She has on board 300 sheep for Nelson, and 160 bales of wool for the Leichhardt, now loading in ©ur port;. The s.s. Wanganui, Captain Linklater, arrived in port at 9 o'clock last night from Wanganui. She crogscd the bar at Wanganui at twonfcy minutes past nine in the morning. Tho s.s. Rangatira just arrived as the Wanganui was leaving. The Wanganui would have towed the brig Lady Denison out had the bar been passable. The Prairio had cleared out for Newcastle, and was ■waiting to clear the bar. The Beautiful Star was expected every tide from Westport. The Wanganui came withont a mail as it had been digpatched an hour and a half previously by coach.
