A large portion of the suburban and rural allotments aw laid off along the bank of tho Manawatu river, and tho main lines of road now in progress of formation, loading to the navigable part of the river, the Forty Milo Bush, and Rangitiki, concentrate on the town of Palmerston. TO CONTRACTORS. i ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH EXTENSION. nnHE Electric Telegraph Commissioner is preX pared to receive Tenders for the supply and delivery of Telegraph Poles between the City of Wellington and Musterton, along a route to be indicated by the Telegraphic Engineer, and which will generally be along tbe line of the present road. Tenders are to be made at a price per polo, and will bo received for tho following description of poles :-— Ist. For square sawn posts to be cut from the heart of totara, matai, blue gum, or stringy bark. The whole of the posts to be straight and free from shakes or sap, to be 25 feet in length, 8 inches square at the butt, and 6 inches square at the top, and to bo charred for a length of 6 feet measured from the butt end. 2nd. For totara, matai, or kowai saplings, 25 feet long, 12 inches through at tho butt, and 7 inches through at tho top. Tlicsc poles to be straight, sound, and free from loose knots, and to be barked and cleaned throughout their whole length, and charred for a length of 6 feet measured from tho butts. Separate Tenders will also be received for proparing tho above poles for cross-arms and roofs, and for the erection of the poles at points to be indicated by the Telegraphic Engineer. Tho usual gurantees will be required. Specifications can bo seen, and further particulars obtained (if necessary) on application to the Telegraphic Engineer, at the Telegraph Station, Wellington.
