TELEGRAMS.

Bltjff, 21sfc. Arrived, 6 a.m. — Tararua, s.s., from Dunedin. Sailed, 11 a.m. — Tararua, s.s., for Melbourne, with the European mails. Tho N.Z.S.N. Co.'s a ,s., Wellington, Captain Renner, from the South, arrived in this harbor at 10 a.m. on the 22nd inßt. She left the Bluff at 4 p.m. on the 17th, and arrived at Port Chalmers at 4 a.m. on the 18th ; left Port Chalmers at 1 p.m. on tho 20th, and arrived at Lyttelton at 9.15 a.m. on the 20th ; left sanio day at 3.20 p.m., and arrived here as above. She brought on tho English Mail, which was conveyed to the Bluff by the s.s. A lbion. On Saturday last the Phcebo having had all her repairs completed andbeenthoroughly overhauled, took a trip from the harbor to Sinclair Head and back again. The repairs, which have been done by Mr. E. W. Mills, of the Lion Foundry, Wellington, are executed in a most satisfactory manner, and consisted of a thorough overhaul of the vessel inside and on deck. The interior has been cleaned and repainted; tho boilers and engines have been refitted, and all the sparfl and ropes have been put in good working order. The Phcobe left tho Queen's Wharf at half-past 2, having Captain Benson, Mr. E. W. Mills, and about a hundred visitors on board, including the Hon. J. Johnston and Joo Dransfield, Esq., and went out as far as Sinclair Head, when her head was turned and she came back again, going round

The trip of Saturday last vr&i not made for tho purpose of trying her speed, as from having only a few tons of coals on board her screw was half-way out of the water, but merely to test the engines. With a pressure of 151bs on tho square inch, a vacuum of 27 inches and 63 revolutions, a speed of over nine knots was nevertheless attained, while the engines worked most satisfactorily, and Mr. Nancarrow, Engineer-Surveyor, expressed his approval of them. Tho visitors on board partook of an excellent luncheon on the way back. The Hon. J. Johnston proposed " The Health of Captain Benson," which was drank, and Captain Benson returned thanks in a most appropriate speech. The passengers were lauded at ttio wharf again at six o'clock, well satisfied with tho hospitality and attention which had been shown them. The P.N.Z. & A.R.M. Co.'s s.s., Rangitoto, J. W. B. Darke, commander, sailed from Hobson's Bay at 6.30 p.m. on tho 13th inst. Experienced light south and west breeze with fine weather as far as Hokitika, which was reached at 5 p.m. on the 18th inst. Discharged 120 passengers and cargo, and proceeded on to Nelson on 19th inst. at 7 p.m., arriving there on the 20th at 2 p.m. After discharging a largo cargo, sailed again on Sunday morning at 7 a.m., arriving at Picton at 2 p.m. ; sailed from thence at 6.30 on 22nd inst., arriving off the wharf at 11 a.m. She brings 20 passengers and a large cargo for this port. The Bahque Napier.— Messrs. Levin & Go. liavo received a latter dated Mauritius, sth September, from Captain Potherbridgo, stating that he will loavo that port in about ten days from date of letter, and expects to arrive hero early in November. The a.s. Rangatira, Captain Thompson, sails for Napier this day at 1 p.m. The s.s. Wellington, Captain Renner, sails for Picton, Nelson, Taranaki, and the Manukau, this day, at 1 p.m. j Tho s.s. Phoebe, Captain Wheeler, sails for Picton, Nelson, Hokitika, and tho Bluff, calling at the Grey, this day. The s.s. Rangitoto, Captain Darke, sails for Melbourne, via the South, this day. The s.s. Taranaki, Captain Francis, sailed for Melbourne, via Nelson and Hokitika, yosterday evening, with a small cargo and 20 passengers. The s.s. Albion, from Melbourne, via tho South, is due to-day, and leaves for Nelson, Hokitika, and Melbourne, twenty-four hours aftor arrival. The s.s. Egmont is due from Southern ports to-day, and is adverfcisod to sail for Picton, Nelson, Taranaki, and Manukau, on Wednesday.
