THE SMALL FARM ASSOCIATION
The remainder of the Provincial Secretary's resolutions, comprising the 'Government scheme for tbe Manawatu Small Fartn Association, wore passed in the Council last' night, subject to aonie slight modification. The size of the block, the price per acre, and the stipulation as to occupation, have been affirmed, so that it may be said the proposals of the Government have been sanctioned by the Council. . # ■■» ■ Though Mr. Haloombe explained on Thurs. day night, that the increased price of £1 per acre applied not ouly to tho Manawatu Block, but also to all the agricultural lands of the province, yet that is a matter which has still to be discussed. His motion, " That all agricultural lands be sold by auction after survey at an upset price of £1 an acre," was brought forward last night, but the discussion is again postponed. We are however of opiuion that as tlie Council has already settled the question of price in one instance, they will make the increase of universal application. Aa £l an acre is to be charged the Small Farm Settlers for their block in • the Manawatu, the same price will naturally be charged for all agricultural lands.
