THE MINISTRY.
The anticipation expressed iv our monthly summary, that Mr. Jollie would shortly be gazetted to the office of Colonial Treasurer, has now been realised. A Gazette published las f night, notifies that Mr. Stafford has resigned the office of Colonial Treasurer and that Mr. Jollie has been appointed to it. When Mr. Jollie joined the Ministry, -it was thought that he would take the Colonial Treasurer's department, but wo believe an effort was made to .secure Mr. Johnston's acceptance of that post, which he, however, declined, preferring to remain in the Ministry without a portfolio. Nothing has as yet transpired about the Attorney-Generalship, the only department now vacant. It would of course bo competent for Mr. Stafford to resign tho office of Colonial Secretary and confer it upon some other politician who might yet join the Ministry, ha himself still remaining at the head of the Governmental Premier. The following are tho notifications from the Gazette : — , His Excellency the Governor lias this day accepted the resignation of Tho Honorable Edward William Sta.fjfo.bd, of his office as Colonial Treasurer. By command W. R. Gray, For the Private Soeretary. Private Secretary's Office, Wellington, 12th Juno, 1866. His Excellency the G-overnor has, in Her Majesfcy's name, by Letters Patent under the Seal of the Colony, been pleased to appoint The Honorable Fiukcis Jollie, to bo Colonial Treasurer. By command W. E. Gkay, For the Private Seoretary.
