NEWS FROM THE EAST COAST

The s.s. Queen from Napier and Auckland, brought no later papers, but we are glad to learn from other sources that Mr McLean, the Superintendent of Hawke's Bay, had returned to Napier safe and well on the 25th inst., in the St Kilda, so that the rumour of his having been taken prisoner by the H.iu Haus was unfounded. On the East Coast there had been some further fighting between Morgan's party and the Hau Haus, but no particulars have reached us.
