NELSON.
We take the following from the monthly commercial Summary of the Nelson Examiner of the 14th last: — "Our goldQelda are progressing satisfactorily, considering the weather, and as fresh fields of large extent have recently been discovered, there is already space enough for many thousands of diggers, who would doubtless find equally good claims to those already being worked. The road parties will have their works completed by the spring; and the communication by sea will now ho kept up by the Sturt steamer, which vessel sailed with a considerable cargo, and upwards of twenty diggers on the 2nd instant " Our local Steam Company's boat, the Start, purchased in Adelaide for the coastal trade, arrived on 28th ult, having proved herself a capital sea boat on the passage. As sho is a large carrying boat with a light draught of water, she is eminently adapted for ontering the bar harbors on the coast Tho long delay caused by the dearth of properly qualifled artizans in Adelaide has added materially to her cost, but, from her speed and capacity, we think there ig every probability of her yielding a dividend to the shareholders, whilst she will be of great advantage to the commerce of the place."
