John Smith, a seaman, claimed from Captain A. Burke of the ship Jenny W. Payne, £2 68 8d for wages. The Court gave judgment for defendant with costs 75., believing the plaintiff had broken his engagement G. London y. W. Bannister. Debt, 15s 4d. Judgment ex parteiov amount and costs 13s, Henry Jury, v, John Bamford. Claim of 6s for cattle trespass. Settled out of Court. Johnßiley, seaman of the ship Harriett Armitage, - was committed to gaol for 12 weeks hard labor for having assaulted the. captain, Thomaß Musgrove, by going; into ' his cabin and striking him repeatedly with his fists; . , Pkiday, Juke 19. The Johnsonville assault case was adjourned to' the 24th July. Thomas Ford was charged by John Foster with using abusive and threatening language. It being a ' family quarrel, the case was recommended to be withdrawn. J. H. Homer v. E. Baker. Claim of £12 10s for horse hire on account of the General Government The . case was settled by plaintiff accepting a tender' of £10 7s. Stephen Stockbridgev. F. E. Wright Claim of £12 Us for damages and trespass of 250 sheep in his garden. The case was adjourned to 22nd inst, to enable plaintiff 'B counsel to attend.
Saturday Joke 20. S. Crowther, for drunkenness, was committed to gaol for 7 days. B. Oliver and W. Williams, two seamen of the Harriett Armitage were fined 5s each for drunkenness, and ordered to pay Mrs Valentine, of the Ship Hotel, 30s for broken windows. Monday, Jdue 22. Job Short was fined 10s for drunkenness. — S. Stock* bridge v. J. F. R Wright Claim for damages of £12 11b, caused by 251 of the defendant's sheep breaking into the plaintiff's orchard.
