TWO DAYS' LATER NEWS FROM MELBOURNE.
By the arrival of the City of Hobart, we Daily Tiiines are in possession of two days' later news from Melbourne. The Melbourne intelligence is not of much importance. We take the following telegrams from the Herald, or August 18: — NEW SOUTH WALES. Sydney, 16th August. On the 13th, we telegraphed Sir F. Pottinger's meeting with Gardiner on Saturday last, at Wheeo. This has been confirmed by Sir Fredrick's account, who swears he was within three yards of this celebrated bushranger, who was visiting a woman when waylaid by the troopers. He succeeded in escaping and evaded pursuit. Mr. BotLs, of Botts' Wharf, blew out his brains to-doy (Saturday). The supposed cause of the dreadful act was hypochondria.
