MELBOURNE.— August 15th.
(From the " Sydney Herald " Telegraphic Despatches.) One hundred and eighty-seven three-quarter boxes of tobacco was offered to day. R. W. Cameron's brand, of ordinary quality, sold by auction at 2s* 4d. to ys. 4| per lb. in bond. Flour and horse corn is in good enquiry ; maize and oats looking up. Sales of kerosene oil have been effected at from 2s. 4d. to 3s. Id. per gallon, Philloick'a brand. The trade have adopted the proposition of the importers of tea, of selling by the pound instead cf per package. l'he first sale under the new system has been made to-day at satisfactory rates. Congous from ia. 6d. to 2s. 6d. per lb. ; gunpowder, to 3s. 6d., cash.
