DEPARTURE OF THE GOVERNOR.
The Governor leaves for Auckland this afternoon, We are informed that his departure has not been occasioned by the news from Auckland relative to the quarrel between two Native hajxvs at Kaipara; his despatobes on this subject not having necessitated any departure from previously determined movements. The immediate cause of His Excellency's departure is because positive information has been received that the Natives of the Coromandel have expressed their willingness to make over to him the auriferous land in that district. The importance of acquiring this district is so great, that His Excellency bas not thought it right t o delay even for a moment, complying
with the wishes of the sellers for an opportunity of personally negotiating with him. Of the value which is attached to the purchase, we need only refer to the conclusion ot the Article from the Southern Cross of the 24th instant, extracted and already alluded to elsewhere. The Governor will return in ample time for the opening of the General Assembly on the 26th June.
