ARRIVAL OF THE 'Prince Alfred,'
The s.s. Prince Alfred, Capt. Bowden, from Sydneyvia Nelson, arrived in this harbor on Wednesday last, at 3 p.m. She sailed from Syanej on Monday, the 16th inst., experienced very fine weather during the whole passage, and arrived at Kelson on the morning of the the 22nd. Left Kelson on Wednesday morning and made the passage across in 14 hours. The European Mail waa not telegraphed in Sydney as haying arrived at Adelaide when the Prince Alfred left. She brings 12 saloon and 125 steerage passengers for the Otago Gold Diggings. Should the European Mail arrive in Sydney by- the 24th September, the Lord Ashley would be despatched on the. 25th for Maon and the Southern Ports, and would then leave Wellington on or about the 3rd October., If the Mail should not arrive by that time, she will proceed direct to Otago. Captain Bowden has courteously furnished us with files of the latest Sydney papers, from which we have extrersted the following items of intelligence : —
The Lord Ashley was advertised to leave on the 25th if the Mail arrives.
