ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENTS.

(To tlie Editor of ihe Wellington Independent.) Sin, — I see the Renegade Editor of the scurrilous Advertiser, by the tone of his late leaders is getting bolder, and dabbling in dirty work again. Not content with being himself Stafford's puppet, and trying to make his newspaper the organ of Wellington's mortal enemy, tjie Stafford Ministry, he must needs malign private character. Perhaps, he forgets how foolish he looked .in the eyes of the public when he was exposed, for wanting to make it appear that his London Correspondent, toho praised to the skies the Editor of the Advertiser, $c., was a veritable one, whereas it turned out that be, the Editor of the Advertiser, was writing in Wellington letters purporting to be written in London. He knows himself to be in the position of a man without political principle. He would go tomorrow and write for tbe Spectator if the Advertiser had done with him, and if the Spectator would have such a man. Politically speaking, he is a sort of Italian bravado, whose stiletto is at the service of the highest bidder ; or a kind of Swiss soldier, who fights, not for love of coun try — not for honour, or yet for glory, but for those who pay him best. Now as many of your readers are not aware of the political antecedents, here and elsewhere, of this hnmme distingue, I shall in due course favor them with a r_.mme' of the political history of this celebrated Wairarapa refugee, alias Fuddling Dickey.

I remain yours,

DETECTOR.
