Wβ, formerly, were in tho habit of wriliug eri occasional summary for vessels prooeediug to England direct, and on tbe establishment of the Suez Steam Contract we took considerable! trouble' to prepare them for transmission by tbut route; but-owing to the irregularity of the arrival of 'tho European Mail at Melbourne, and the consequent uncertain receipt and despatch of the Muil here, we were obliged to abandon tbe practice. Now;, however, that we cun be ocrtnin 'of the dale of the outgoing Mail, we- intond regularly to prepure a summary similar to those of. the ■Australian Press—a condensation of tho News of the past .mpmb.
The extreme length of theSewell documents, published in our issuo of (lio 20th ulto., prevented us from carrying out oiir plan lust month, and obliges us to connect together, to-day, such topics of interest us bavo occupied our nttontioi) since the commencement of the New Year.
