To the Editor of the " Wellington Independent." Sir,—lt being currently reported that the squatters in the lower part of this valley have been exerting themselves to prejudice the natives against selling their lands here to the New Zealand Company : I, as one of them, and in bo far as I may be considered to be mixed up in the matter, beg to give such an accusation my most unqualified denial, and defy any one, whether white or black, to prove that I hare attempted to bias the natives one way or other.
