GARDINER VOLUNTEERED EARLY IN WAR Among those reported by the latest Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force casualty list to have been hilled in action is Sapper Daniel McDonald Gardiner, youngest son of Mr and Mrs \\ . M. Gardiner, of Waihi Plains. Supper Gardiner, who was gg .rears ot age, was educated at the Waihi High School, and was afterwards employed by the Martha Gold Mining Go. (Waihi), Ltd. He enlisted and sailed with an early reinloreomcnt. and saw service in the Libyan campaign last year, when he was wounded. Sapper Gardiner was killed when taking part in the advance towards Tripoli last month. A brother, Sapper R. R. Gardiner, is serving overseas.
