LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
RUSSIA AND THE WAR
Sir, —Re the war’s great change: It docs seem to many people that Hitler does not want to invade Britain. He is now in the position he was In before he had to go west; that is, his idea was that the vast rich country of Russia should again be useful to Europe. It seems to have been well proved that for the last twenty-four years she has done little beside just keeping alive the greater part of her people, though it is well known that a large privileged class obtains there, as of yore; but their requirements are not brains. In fact, it does seem to most people to be a case of the old saying, “She would neither eat the hay nor let the horse.” Britain has tried time and again to do business with her, but without success.—l am, etc., For Progress, ALICE LEATHER.
