1 FILLING PLACE OF CAPTAIN LYON WIDOW NOT TO STAND i NINE LABOUR NOMINEES By Telegraph—Pr»ss Association. AUCKLAND, This Day. Acting on medical advice, Mrs Lyon, widow of Captain W. J. Lyon, member for Waitemata, who has been reported killed in action, has declined a request unanimously made by Labour Party representatives to have her name submitted for selection as candidate for the vacant seat. This was announced at a meeting of the Waitemata Labour Representation Committee last night. The names of nine nominees were submitted, but were not made public. They will be referred to the national executive at Wellington for final decision. The national secretary of the New Zealand Labour Party, Mr Moohan, presided, and the largely-attended meeting paid silent tribute to the late Captain Lyon. Mr A. G. Osborne, member for Manakau, was elected organiser for the party's byelection campaign.
