For the sequences at the Agua Caliente Handicap to be shown at the
Academy Theatre on Friday and Saturday in “Fast Companions” are authentic scenes of the famous resort photographed on a gala day. A production staff of 75 people was sent to Caliente from Hollywood for an entire week. The winter racing season was in full swing, and scenes of the Agua Caliente Handicap, the “world’s
richest race,” were photpgrapheth [ The huge, rambling Caliente Hote} I and its Mexican patio aye shown and what is more, the interior of the world-renowned gambling rooms, where thousands of dollars change hands every night, has been photographed for films for the first’time. Young Tom Brown heads a cast in-; eluding James Gleason, Maureen O’Sullivan, Andy Devine and Mickey Rooney.
“Sherlock Holmes,” perhaps (he best known of the bpoks by the late Conan Doyle, comes with Clive Brgok, the celebrated English star, next week.
