ACADEMY THEATRE

“ALIAS JIMMY VALENTINE” TO-NIGHT For the past fifteen years, “Alias Jimmy Valentine” has been, perhaps, the most sensationally and perennially successful play on the stage. For over a generation young and old alike have thrilled, laughed and cried over the story of the dashing young crook who outwits the police forces of half a dozen cities, only to give himself away at last by cracking the safe is imprisoned the sister of the girl he loves. Now Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer has taken the story and made it as modern as the costumes of the year after next. The picture with William Haines as the star is being presented as a parttalkie at the Academy Theatre tqnight and to-morrow night. Particularly good short features will be found in Gus Edward’s Colourtone Revue (presenting tuneful melodies and clever dancing, all in beautiful colours); Bob. Nelson wilj be heard in catchy songs, and Bernardo De Pace in new numbers on the mandqlin.

On Thursday, Friday ami day Pauline Frederick will star in the ail-talkie, “On Trial.” All the big successes will be heard and seen at this theatre. Coming; "The Black Watch,” “Bulldog Drummond.” “Tlie Three Live Ghosts,” “Broadway Melody,” “Madame X.”
