SENSATIONAL ESCAPE
PRISONER JUMPS PROM TRAIN WINDOW NAVAL MAN’S GETAWAY By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, this day. A naval prisoner proceeding to Wellington under escort last night made a sensational escape from the Limited Express by jumping through a window of a seco'nd-class apartment in full view of the passengers. A search, lasting for several hours, was instituted near the scene of the exploit on the city side af the Parnell tunnel, but no trace of the escapee was found. It is presumed that he escaped serious injury and was able to make his getaway unobserved. The missing man is a stoker who is a deserter from H.M.S. Diomede, now on her way to England.
