AMALGAMATION OF DEPARTMENTS STATEMENT BY MINISTER By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, this day. The Minister of Labour (Hon. W. A. Veitch) announces that the Departments of Labour and Immigration are to be amalgamated and that the organisation of the latter will be used to distribute young New Zealanders into suitable employment on farms. No immigrants of this kind are now being introduced. The joint portfolio will be held by Mr Veitch and Mr H. D. Thomson, at present Under-Secretary of Immigration, will be the head of the new department.
